This is one of Miri’s best Halal Thai Food restaurants. It was so good, Michelle and I visited this restaurant for 2 nights in a row. Amazing dishes!
Located at the heart of Miri Town, Aroi Mak’s Thai Food is as authentic as it can get - the entire crew consist mostly of Thais(who are Muslim), and they cook with a passion for their food. The co-manager is a pleasant soft-spoken Thai lady.
The entire experience there really brings you to Thailand - from the decorations, to the service and the Thai language they speak amongst each other, and to the amazing food, Michelle and I felt as if were in Chiang Mai again where we had our honeymoon 2 years ago.
The dishes are really rich with authentic Thai flavours. Even the basil leaves are home-grown, and are Thai Basil leaves simply because they find it hard to purchase the exact desired leaf over here.
We would recommend:
-White? Tomyam Chicken Soup - to be honest, I forgot the name of this dish. It definitely isn't the typical tom yam, BUT it was so rich and flavourful and spicy at the same time. You cannot possibly miss this dish.
-Pandan Chicken - Crispy Chicken wrapped in Pandan Leaves, and fried with lemon grass
-Basil Leaf Beef - home-grown basil leaf fried with beef, Thai Style
-Green Curry Fried-Rice - Michelle and I have found it most difficult to find a good green curry fried rice ever since we left Pai, Chiang Mai. But this one topped the list. We actually ordered another Green Curry Fried Rice since it tasted amazing!
-Lemon Fish
-Tom Yam Fish soup - spicy, appetizing
-Mango Sticky Rice
- Thai Teas - Green or normal milk tea
The price is reasonable. The quality is up to par.
I won't hesitate to state how much we enjoyed good authentic Thai Food in Aroi Mak.
